KTM finds itself in a deep hole currently, with subsidiary company MV Agusta admitting its ‘shareholding structure is still being defined’ after it was reportedly let go from KTM ownership, however, that hasn’t halted the Austrian brand’s 2025 line-up from receiving the most advanced adventure bike to date.

Introducing the new KTM 1390 Super Adventure R, which follows on from the Super Adventure S and S Evo models, all three big-bodied adventure motorcycles have been recently unveiled as part of a long list of new bikes showcased every week.

But unlike the new S and S Evo models, the new Super Adventure R has been spiced up with a more traditional suspension set-up better suited to hard off-road use, with a 48mm WP XPLOR split cartridge fork up front and WP XPLOR Progressive Damping System (PDS) shock wrapping things up at the rear.

The new R model has also been bolstered when it comes to overall power compared to before, with the engine displacement rising from 1,300 to 1,350cc, producing a staggering 170bhp at 9,500 rpm and 107Ib ft of torque at 8,000 rpm. The Super Adventure R comprises a liquid-cooled twin-cylinder power unit and an all-new Camshift technology providing improved rideability in the low rpm range.

Dual Brembo Stylema Monobloc four-piston, radially mounted callipers are attached to a 320mm disc at the front, while the rear includes a Brembo two-piston, fixed calliper, with a 267mm disc.

The new off-roading special, which KTM claims ‘is ready to cross borders in search of new, uncharted ground’ also receives the Austrian brand’s new premium electronics package, featuring an all-new eight-inch vertical-mounted dashboard with inductive technology for easy operation, even when wearing thick winter or purpose-built off-road gloves.

The new dashboard features an innovative Anti-reflex, anti-fingerprint and anti-glare coating which will allow for greater visibility overall, while also giving riders access to new riding modes, built-in Navigation and Connectivity features.
