Used Deal: Bag a Rare Limited Edition KTM RC8 for £18K
A extremely rare low-mileage KTM RC8 Akrapovic edition, loaded with quality parts, could be yours for £18K
KTM’s naked motorcycle range is a standout in today’s market, but its superbike range is somewhat lacking. That wasn’t always the case though, as the RC8 once roamed the roads and race tracks of the world.
There are good reasons for that, as KTM for many years was only interested in making sport bikes for track-only use. That’s why the KTM RC8 was eventually discontinued despite the continued production of sportbikes for track racing in MotoGP and the two junior classes. But 2025 will mark a return to road sportbikes for the Austrian company.
A new 990 RC R is coming to the market and will reignite KTM’s sportsbike image, but that doesn’t mean the RC8 should be overlooked. It’s still a very good bike and this 2010 model that’s on show courtesy of The Bike Specialists is a rare version of the mythical machine.
Specifically, it is a KTM RC8 1190 Akrapovic edition that is on offer, and it’s filled with goodies, including a very racey livery. Heavily branded in Akrapovic decals, and adding to the allure of it, this bike is number ten of just 100 made.
The RC8 was one of two models in the range as there was also a RC8 R version which was a track-only bike and included a bigger motor than the 1148cc V-twin engine that’s in the 2010 RC8 model.
With just 1,281 miles on the clock, this KTM was presented as the first of 100 RC8 R Akrapovic Race Replicas based on the 2009 IDM (German superbike championship) finale in Hockenheim.
Of course, the bike features an Akrapovic exhaust system, along with a modified cylinder head and modified mapping. It generates 180bhp, making it one of the world’s most powerful superbikes of the era.
The stunning race replica is also fully road-homologated with the original exhaust system. The racing version of this bike was ridden by none other than Jeremy McWilliams and also features KTM’s WP suspension and a Brembo braking system on the front.
A bike that’s both fit for the road and track, it has had three owners but remains in stunning condition and comes with two sets of keys. The bike costs £17,999 and full details can be found on The Bike Specialists website.
The only real question that remains then, is do you ride it, or park it under the stairs and gawp at it?
