Valentino Rossi and wife Francesca have confirmed the arrival of a second daughter to the family to kickstart the new year.

Rossi, a nine-time Motorcycle world champion including seven-time MotoGP title winner, the Italian legend and his wife welcomed the new baby on Saturday. Named Gabriella. The new daughter arrives two years after their first child, Guiletta, was born.

The news comes just days after Rossi confirmed he will be a bigger presence around the MotoGP paddock in 2024, after focusing the last two seasons of his professional career in four-wheel racing.

2025 marks four years since Rossi last raced in MotoGP, and the Italian remains a key part of the championship thanks to his involvement with Ducati and his own VR46 team.

Rossi’s squad will feature Fabio Di Giannantonio, who will be riding a full factory-spec bike like Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, alongside teammate Franco Morbidelli, who is a new addition to the team following his exit from Pramac.

Now 45 years of age, Rossi will continue to race cars this year although he will do so in a more limited role in order to allow him to spend more time at MotoGP races with his team and the group of VR46 academy riders which includes, Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi.

That said, it’s expected that Rossi could line-up at the 24 Hour of Le Mans race as he did in 2024 where he was in contention to win the GT class before a night time crash for his team-mate. Rossi will continue to race BMW machinery in 2025.

Rossi will also stage his annual 100km of Champions race which takes place at his off-road ranch in Tavullia, later this month.
