Yamaha R125 Gets New Colours and Tech Updates for 2025
Yamaha’s popular entry-level sportbike has received a technical tickle which includes improved mobile phone connectivity
New colours for the 2025 Yamaha R125 have also been made available for the fourth-generation model which was first introduced in 2008, and underwent its last major overhaul in 2023.
The single-cylinder sportbike, which is Euro5+ compliant, produces 14.7bhp at 10,000rpm and 8.4Ib ft of torque at 8000rpm which is unchanged from the previous model. Aside from the Euro5+ certification, the bike has undergone no further engine or chassis updates.
The R125 is one of the most popular entry-level sportbikes, and with it featuring the same style as the A2-licence friendly R3, R7 and new R9, major updates were considered unnecessary, and we don’t blame the Japanese company.
Featuring a composed Deltabox chassis set-up, and 41mm upside-down KYB forks for its suspension, the 2025 R125 model is available in two colourways which are ‘Icon Blue’ and ‘Tech Black’, with prices starting from £5450 for both options.
The newly-updated five-inch full-colour TFT dash has been further enhanced to include turn-by-turn navigation via the Yamaha MyRide app, alongside the current weather conditions at the final destination. Messages can be previewed as a result, alongside calls and text information while song and artist details are also displayed when listening to music through a Bluetooth headset.
Further expansions to the tech include a lean angle indicator which uses data from your mobile phone to determine how far over you’ve achieved.
Braking aboard the R125 comprises a single disc in both the front and rear, with 292mm of travel (front) and 220mm (rear). The bike’s fuel tank capacity is unchanged, sitting at 11 litres, with the same applying to the seat height which comes in at 820mm. The small-capacity bike also has a wet weight of just 141kg.
The technical updates come after the R3 underwent big changes, which include revised styling for 2025 and the introduction of small winglets.
