Rekurv Leather Combi Jacket Review: Style Aplenty
The Rekurv C-11.04 leather jacket oozes style but it does much more than just meet the eye
After riding in textile jackets for many years I was keen to get my hands on a leather garment, something that was new and fresh, and above all, something that gave off a classy, modern vibe and feel.
That’s exactly what I found with the new Rekurv C-11.04 leather jacket which is available to buy at Louis Moto.
Price, Colour and Sizes
Made from Buffalo leather, the Rekurv C-11.04 is 1.1 - 1.2mm thick, and has material reinforcement of 600D polyester on the shoulders and elbows and 100 per cent polyester permanent mesh lining. The RRP price of £250.54 might scare some of you away, especially as it’s not a well known brand like Alpinestars, Dainese or RST, but I wouldn’t let it.
There’s no better place to start than protection, and the jacket is loaded with it. Starting with removable 4SEVN protectors on the shoulders and elbows, it also has elbow protectors that can be adjusted in 2 ways. There’s reflective material, safety seams according to ISO 4916 on fall positions and optional HTP or 4SEVN back protectors. The jacket meets level two CE protection. Sizes range from XXS to 6XL. There is one colour available which is the black and red I'm seen wearing.
What was the fit like?
The Rekurv leather motorcycle jacket was a tight fit, but as someone who likes to feel snug in their riding gear, that suited me down to a tee. I’m a size M in most clothing and that’s what I choose for this jacket, although a size L would have also fit me.
To give you an idea of the fit, it felt like I was in a race suit which I liked, and if you’re around 5ft 11 and 80 kilos, like me, then an M is the size I would recommend if you want it to fit the way it did for me.
What I will say is that this type of fit will be slightly less comfortable in the summer when you’re dripping with sweat on those hot sunny days, so take that into account because a large might be better suited for comfort if you don’t want to feel too restricted.
It wins big with style points
I have to say, the look of this jacket is perfect and Rekurv really hit the nail on the head with the design. I’m someone who likes to be a little bit bold with my riding gear, I mean, I did buy Dainese race boots and paint over them to create a unique colourway that includes Burgundy and Pink, so you get the idea.
And this jacket is full of swagger from an aesthetic point of view. Look good, feel good, as they say, and that’s very much what I felt like in this jacket.
Did storage let it down?
There is limited storage on the exterior of the jacket, which is to be somewhat expected as it's a leather jacket with a racey style, but the storage on the interior was more than good enough. What I liked is that the jacket included pockets on both sides - a total of three inner pockets and one document pocket are fitted to this jacket - but that’s not all.
The pockets were different lengths which allowed me to use one as a phone holder and the others for objects like a wallet or keys.
Despite the jacket being a tight fit, I didn’t feel restricted when loading up the pockets either which was very welcome. Accordion stretch is found on the elbows and back, while there is elastic material on the sleeves thanks to a 93 per cent polyamide and 7 per cent elastane combination.
Suitable for colder weather?
The short answer is yes. I was pleasantly surprised as the jacket was extremely windproof and I felt as though I could challenge all types of colder conditions.
But there was one area that I felt could have been better and that was the collar section of the jacket. Luckily I often wear neck sleeves when riding, especially in the winter months and didn’t feel anything wrong when doing so.
That said, on the days I didn’t it could sometimes rub against your neck and leave red marks, but that was only if I was riding for a considerable amount of time, still, something to remember when opting for this jacket. I would also say choosing a size up, thus getting greater comfort, will help against this.
Should you buy the Rekurv Rekurv C-11.04 leather jacket?
Absolutely! The rubbing around the neck was not really an issue, and in fact, if you’re riding for half a day or wearing neck sleeves, you probably won’t notice anything. The comfort and style of this jacket is very impressive and it has become my go-to jacket in my wardrobe.
It also received plenty of positive comments from other riders and general road users when I was out and about, so you won’t be let down by how good this thing looks. For the price you’re getting a jacket that will also last, keep you dry in light-to-medium rain and is full of high-quality protection.
