Pidcock Motor Cycles Limited closed its doors towards the end of 2024 after several job cuts led to entering administration, but the ex-motorcycle showroom is coming alive once again as a car firm is taking over.

The showroom is based on Tamworth Road in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, and it was first leased to Pidcock by Kia dealer NK Motors, which took over the site 25 years ago. Initially used as a car showroom, Pidcock Motorcycles then took over in 2014 as it predominantly sold Ducati, BMW and Triumph machinery, while also having a strong partnership with Zero Motorcycles and Energica.

However, financial difficulty resulted in the company being forced to cut 18 jobs. Pidcock was also forced to close its Ducati and Triumph sites in Beeston and Long Eaton, although its Nottingham site still remains operational.

Following Pidcock's demise, the car company, which has two other Kia dealerships, is now reopening it as a used car centre, with a sizable space that can accommodate 80 vehicles.

There are also plans for the company to have an overflow showroom for 40 additional cars at another Long Eaton site owned by the same group. Pidcock Motor Cycles Limited has had a long history of selling bikes since 1975, but only one of its showrooms still exists.

NK Motors managing director, Sanj Kumar, said: “It’s a great feeling for me personally to see the site I began my career at 25 years ago coming back into use as our latest car showroom. Since those days, when we were selling 60 cars a month, we’ve grown from a small family business into a huge dealership, particularly through our partnership with Kia.

"It was sad to see Pidcock Motorcycles go into administration but it came at the right time for our expansion, so it seemed like the obvious thing to do. We were initially considering re-opening as a motorbike franchise, but that market has faced some recent challenges recently so we decided to revert back to a dedicated used car centre."

The takeover means the new showroom will open in April following a £100,000 refurbishment. It is reported that the firm will stock cars ranging from £5,000 to £50,000.
