Bomber Command Charity Ride to Honour WW2 Humanitarian Mission

Over 500 bikers are to take part in the Lincoln International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) ride which will honour a World War II humanitarian mission as part of the InSpire Ride charity event.

The ride-out is set to take place on Sunday, 18 May, and it will specifically commemorate the 80th anniversary of Operation Manna, a WW2 humanitarian mission that saw British and Canadian aircraft drop food supplies to starving civilians in the Netherlands during the war.

The historic mission took place in April 1945 with thousands of lives saved as a result. The day will also be remembered by the Canwick history centre and is scheduled to run from 10am until 4pm.

Furthermore, there is a Northern and Southern ride in and riders taking part will be able to take part in the Service of Commemoration and take free guided tours of the site.

The venue is asking for voluntary contributions of £10 from all members of the public attending, and all of the money raised will be donated to the IBCC. There is also the option to take part in the charity day as a VIP member which will cost £55 for a solo rider and £65 for a rider and pillion.

For riders that choose either of these options an IBCC Wristband will be provided upon arrival, and there will be free priority access to the Chadwick Centre Exhibition (usually £9.50 pp), a professional photo of your bike in front of the spire and access to a VIP lounge with drinks and food available all of which is free.

The first InSpire Ride took place in 2018 which produced a total of 180 bikes. That number rose massively the following year as around 500 bikes were in attendance, before the Covid-19 pandemic halted proceedings in 2020 and 2021. The InSpire charity ride got back underway in 2022 and has been running since.
