Communication system expert Cardo is once again teaming up with Schuberth on a wide selection of helmets from the German company.

The newly-developed comms system from Cardo is called SC Edge and it has been developed to work with the C5 Carbon, E2 Carbon, C5, S3 and brand-new J2 flip-up lid.

The C5 Carbon helmet is a sportier lid compared to the J2 and features a full carbon shell by the brand’s technicians, who also manufacture Formula 1 helmets. The only helmet not to receive the new comms system from Schuberth is the E2 model.

The newest collaboration between the two companies is the latest to take place since the partnership began in 2009. On that occasion it was the launch of the world’s first integrated helmet communication, which was the SRC system on the Schuberth C3 helmet.

Some of the features include plug-and-play connectivity with pre-fitted speakers and antenna. The SC Edge is ECE-R 22.06 SA homologated for all five helmets listed above.

The system also features a IPX5 waterproof rating, as well as receiving Cardo’s second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, Natural Voice Operation and a range of up to 1.6km (0.9miles).

Shachar Harari, Vice President, Business Development at Cardo Systems, said: “Our collaboration with Schuberth has always been centered on providing the best communication technology for motorcyclists. By combining Cardo’s innovative communication technology with Schuberth’s premium helmets, we’re looking forward to delivering an integrated experience for riders across the
globe.”
