Competition Winner Crashes Prize Minutes After Delivery
Please, if you enter a raffle for a new bike, try not to crash it as soon as it's delivered - you make the rest of us look bad
“Stupid is as stupid does”, is the now iconic phrase uttered by a certain Forrest Gump in the 1994 classic movie by the same name. And it’s a phrase that could have been purpose-made for this competition winner, who has decked their prize within minutes of receiving it - and it’s all on film.
The story comes to us via an online raffle and competition company, which managed to find the perfect person to house a shiny Honda CR250 with - or maybe not. After taking collection of the prize, the winner, or possibly one of his friends, decides the perfect way to welcome the bike into the family is to cruise the cul-de-sac in which they reside. How very wholesome.
Now, bearing in mind that the bike seems to be an off-road bike, with no lights, mirrors, or registration plate visible, you’d imagine that the winner would be doing everything else in their power to ensure the machine was ridden in a safe, legal, and courteous manner. Nah. This total ‘legend’ decides to wheelie to the two-stroke motocross bike down the street - and the result is a fairly hilarious pair of crashes.
Making the high jinks all the more comical is the fact that the company that arranged the raffle is still on site, filming the events which they later posted on their social media for us all to enjoy. The first crash they posted to the social channel shows a tracksuit-wearing rider (no helmet, obviously) turning the bike around before heading off down the street. All is fine until an unsighted rider of an electric dirt bike appears, coming in the other direction, leading to a collision and both bikes and riders hitting the deck.
The second crash, though, is pure comedy gold. To celebrate bagging the sweet-looking CRF, the rider decides to hoik an 11 o’clock minger, only to overcook it and loop the thing, leaving him and the bike sliding along the ground, which more than likely made a terrible mess of the poor lad's tracksuit.
While the footage on the one hand is hilarious, it does beg the question; with so many towns and cities in the UK already plagued by idiot riders on dirt bikes such as this, why would the company involved in the raffle have filmed and then shared the footage? They’ve basically chucked the winner under the proverbial bus (although that saves him doing it himself!), by picturing him, naming him as the winner, and then posting footage of him riding in a dangerous manner on the public road.
And this is why people can’t have nice things…
