KTM’s financial woes have dominated the headlines in recent weeks, but the Austrian company has assured everyone, including its MotoGP project, that things aren’t as bad as they seem, and that the racing project will not suffer in any way.

KTM was forced to file for self-administration as a result of the issues, but the MotoGP project remains in good hands according to Autosport, which is reporting that KTM will remain in the pinnacle class of racing without sacrificing its future, while funding support from Red Bull will not take place either.

So it seems clear that KTM is carrying on as normal which would mean its double star-studded lineup of Brad Binder and Acosta (Factory Red Bull KTM team) and Tech 3’s all-new squad consisting of Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales will go on as planned in 2025, but that hasn’t stopped Ducati from allegedly making an attempt to speak with Acosta’s representatives.

After it was revealed last week by several outlets including Crash.net, KTM is said to have frozen development in 2025, and Ducati has reportedly (according to GPOne.com) spoken to Acosta’s manager Albert Valera, who is also the manager of world champion Jorge Martin.

With Marc Marquez potentially racing for only a few more seasons, signing Acosta would secure Ducati’s future in having another top-level rider alongside Francesco Bagnaia if it was to pull off the Spaniard’s signing at some stage.

Ducati tried a couple of years ago to sign the Moto3 and Moto2 world champion but KTM held onto the superstar talent. However, if things at KTM were to derail and Acosta was to move, even as early as next season, Ducati’s factory team doors would be firmly shut with Bagnaia and Marquez already in the line-up.

So, enter Valentino Rossi, who like Ducati has been a big fan of the young KTM rider ever since he set foot into Moto3. Rossi’s name, and more importantly his VR46 team, has been linked, again by GPOne.com, as a possible option if Acosta were to shockingly move away from KTM, although there’s no indication of that happening just yet.
