Bike sales bounce back after April showers
Yamaha's new Tracer 900 is top of the May sales pile
SALES OF new bikes bounced back last month after a sopping April saw figures decline by more than 13 per cent.
May sales of motorcycles were up 4.8% month on month with the biggest growth in percentage terms happening in the trail bike sector. Adventure bikes contine to dominate sales with nearly 2000 units shifted in May – double the number of sportsbikes.
In terms of yearly growth, there was a 2.1% increase in sales in 2018 compared to 2017 with custom bikes being the biggest improver. 125cc to 650cc bikes continue to be the most popular, with a 26.5 per cent increase year on year.
Yamaha’s new Tracer 900 is the biggest winner in May as it tops the sales charts. Yamaha UK shifted 182 of them last month.
