Expect Superscoots to become more popular in 2009

THE PIAGGIO GROUP have unveiled a racy version of their Gilera 800 superscooter, the Gilera 850 Corsa, in celebration of the company's centenary.

The bike's been given a serious dose of trick parts, ranging from upside-down forks to a tasty Ohlins monoshock rear end. The twin-cylinder Gilera also benefits from Brembo Goldline four piston radial brakes.

The bike's bodywork has been complete GP-inspired redesign to give the Corsa a sharper, racier look - some of it in carbon fibre. Gilera have also fitted a removable pillion seat cover to complete the machine's sleek GP styling.

The motor is unchanged from company's standard GP 800.
