At a time when some manufacturers suffered declines in sales against previous years, Honda is doing just fine, especially in India, where it sold nearly six million motorcycles last year.

In terms of global sales, we reported in November that Honda was in a leading position as it also ranked top when it came to the UK market, ahead of Triumph. While the UK numbers are impressive, it’s the Japanese company’s sales in India that have reached exceptional heights, as Honda sold 5,83 million bikes in the South Asian country in 2024.

The astonishing figure means it produced a 19 percent year-on-year growth. And in March 2025, Honda moved 427,448 units alone, which includes 401,411 domestic sales and 26,037 aboard.

Like other South Asian country’s, motorcycles and scooters are used as everyday tools and serve as much more than just a bit of weekend fun or a hobby. That will naturally increase sales but Honda has still delivered in a big way.

A large amount of its success has coincided with entering the electric segment, thanks in particular to the Activa e: and QC1, both of which launched earlier this year.

Honda also debuted the CB300F Flex-Fuel, which is the first 300cc flex-fuel motorcycle to land on Indian soil. Helping the sales further, Honda’s entire motorcycle range in India now meets OBD2B emissions (India’s version of Euro 5+) standards. The strong sales were also no doubt bolstered by the H’Ness (or GB350S as its known in the UK), which brought Honda into the modern classic segment where it could do battle with the might of Royal Enfield.

When adding up the sales figures over a year-long period, Honda’s global figures have gone up every year since 2022. In terms of total sales for 2024 compared to the same time frame in 2023, Honda was sitting at 18,819,000 million sales compared to 18,757,000.
