Honda’s Global Motorbike Sales Have Gone Up
Honda’s latest financial figures are glowing at a time when others are not enjoying the same level of success
While others have suffered financial dips in 2024, Honda is doing just fine and its motorcycle sales are a big reason why, because its automobile segment is slightly down compared to 2023.
Honda runs its financial year from April to March of the following year, and the latest six-month report, which ended on 30 September, has given us some insight into just how well Honda is doing.
It is important to highlight that Honda’s ‘motorcycle’ sales include ATV and UTV machinery, but it’s clear that 2024 has been a big year for Honda, with increased sales in North America, Europe, most notably Asia and ‘Other Regions’.
When adding up the sales figures over a year-long period, numbers have gone up every year since 2022, with an increase of 61 thousand sales in 2024 compared to 2023. In terms of total sales for 2024 compared to the same time frame in 2023, Honda is sitting at 18,819,000 million sales compared to 18,757,000.
Sales revenue and operating profits are both up compared to 2023 and in Honda’s projecting for the end of March 2025 it expects that to continue rising.
Honda also shares details of the five international markets that account for the majority of its motorcycle sales year after year. From biggest to smallest, those markets include India, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Brazil.
Honda's report states said: "Sales results in YTD (April through September 2024) exceeded the same period last year due to firm demand in India and an economic recovery in Vietnam, despite a decrease in Thailand related to an economic slowdown."
As we approach the end of 2024, Honda ranks at the top of the UK motorcycle market when it comes to sales figures, although it suffered a decline of 7.1 per cent, while Triumph is second following a sizable increase of 26.3 per cent.
