Aprilia MotoGP star Jorge Martin has had a tough start to 2025, after crashing heavily at the pre-season test at Sepang, Malaysia.

Per reports from Rueters, Martin had already suffered a fall earlier in the day, only to crash again heavily at the long left-handed Turn 2. Video shared by MotoGP shows the Spanish star being high-sided violently from the Aprilia, landing heavily on his feet before smashing head-first into the track. The impact of the crash is so severe it rips the visor from his helmet and seems to leave him dazed lying at the side of the track.

With red flags stopping the session, Martin is reported to have been transported to the track medical centre before being taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Those checks have revealed that the Martinator has suffered fractures in his right hand and left foot.

A statement on the MotoGP website reads:

“Medical checks have diagnosed him [Martin] with a right hand fracture and fractures in his left foot, which rules him out of any more testing duties in Malaysia.

“He has also undergone a CT scan and MRI, and both those were negative for any head injuries.”

The incident is the worst possible start to Martin’s 2025, as with two days left to run, he’s going to be leaving Malaysia with little more than the injuries to his hand and foot and no doubt a very sore head. It’s not yet known if the damage will curtail his running at the next MotoGP test due to take place on February 12 to 13. After that test, there is just a short break before the 2025 season kicks off in earnest, with the first round being the Thai round taking place between February 28 and March 2.
