TVS enters the scrambler market with new Ronin, available in three models

The TVS Ronin is the first entry of the Indian brand in the scrambler market. One catch, it's only being marketed in India.

TVS Motors has announced the Ronin, the Indian brand’s entry into the scrambler market.

The Ronin will be, for now at least, marketed only in India by TVS, who also owns Norton

Powered by a 225.9cc, single-cylinder SOHC engine with oil cooling, the Ronin will benefit from 15kW, or 20 horsepower, and 20Nm.

Those 20 horses will be pulling 160kg (dry weight) through a five-speed gearbox. When it comes to stopping power, the Ronin features a 300mm disc at the front, and a 220mm disc at the rear.

At this point, it is important to mention that there are multiple versions of the Ronin, three to be precise: DS, SS, and TD. The TD is the only model with dual-channel ABS, while the DS and SS feature single-channel ABS.

The other major non-aesthetic difference between the TD, and the SS and DS models, is that the TD features connectivity including: Digital cluster with SmartXonnect; voice assist; turn-by-turn navigation; ETA; phone call alerts; custom window notifications; and ride analysis via the TVS Connect app. The TD also has adjustable levers, where the SS and DS have standard levers.

Both bikes, though, feature the same 110/70-17 tubeless front tyre, and 130/70-17 tubeless rear tyre; nine-spoke alloys; and Rain and Urban ABS modes. All three also have 2040mm x 805mm x 1170mm dimensions; a 1357mm wheelbase; 181mm ride height; 795mm seat height; and a 14-litre fuel tank.

Additionally, all three versions feature LED lighting all-round and digital fuel gauges and speedometers, although again only the TD’s speedometer is connected.

The other differences between the SS, DS and TD versions are in the colour options, which can be seen in full on the graphic below.
