Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Edition announced
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Edition has been announced featuring special paint a higher spec than before
YAMAHA has announced a new Ténéré 700 Rally Edition just in time for the 2020 adventure season to begin.
Yamaha Ténéré 700 Visordown review
The machine takes all the best bits of the successful and capable Ténéré 700 middle-weight adventure machine, but turns the dial up to eleven, with extra protection, a new paint scheme and a higher specification than before.
The new Rally Edition features a special blue and yellow livery that pays homage to the Yamaha race bikes ridden by JCO and Serge Bacou in the '83 and '84 editions of the Dakar rally. Yamaha off road fans will instantly recognise design, which was inspired by the XT600Z of 1983 that is complete with black Yamaha ‘speedblock’ graphics.
Aside from the stunning looking colour scheme, the new bike also features a host of adventure and off-road parts, all of which are designed to either protect the machine and the rider, or increase the bike’s off-road performance. There is a new, 4mm think aluminium bash plate protecting the engine and lower frame rails, black aluminium rad guard, and an aluminium laser-cut chain protector.
The riding position of the bike has also been tweaked, with a newly constructed one-piece seat raising the rider by 20mm over stock – taking the seat height up to 895mm. The more natural lower body ergonomics are claimed to make it easier for the rider to transition from the seat to standing while tackling inhospitable terrain.
Another inclusion on the new Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Edition is the obligatory naughty sounding end can with Akrapovič providing a slip-on that Yamaha claim gives the bike a ‘rich, deep and throaty’ exhaust note.
Other inclusion on the bike are LED indicators, special gripper pads for the inner thigh and knee, and off-road handlebar grips.
