LESS than a month after Yamaha announced the Ténéré 700 Rally announcement, the dust hasn’t even settled before a custom motorcycle builder has announced a limited run of an even more hardcore machine.

The Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally Racer is a collaboration between Oberdan Bezzi and Gessi Motorbike and will see a limited run of the hardcore desert racers produced.

To achieve the look and ability of the newly announced bike, the Ténéré 700 has been given a thorough going over, with just the engine remaining relatively stock. The frame and subframe have been altered to allow the team the levels of adjustability that they required. To that, they are going to be bolting on higher-spec suspension, with greater levels of adjustability and also travel. The swingarm will also gain revisions, with a new linkage added.

The brakes are also receiving a makeover, with discs and calipers being swapped out to provide more power and we suppose feel at the lever. There will also be the obligatory high-level end can bolted onto the machine, with Akrapovič looking like it’ll be supplying the hardware for that.

The bike will also be gaining some long-distance ability thanks to the addition of some side-mounted fuel tanks created out of aluminium. We’ve read reports that this fuel tank will be a load-bearing structure, possibly helping to supply the heavier than stock Ténéré with some added rigidity.

Finally the bodywork for the new machine will be all carbon fibre or Kevlar, and can be finished in clear lacquer or with one of the Yamaha-inspired paint jobs you see here – as you can guess it’s the ‘speedblock’ yellow bike we’re drooling over!
