Ola Electric Roadster Pro Too Good To Be True?
Ola Electric have released astonishing details about its new Roadster Pro, which will blow your mind
Ola Electric might just have delivered the most complete electric bike to date, either that or it’s a machine that is too-good-to-be-true. Three electric motorcycles have been developed by Ola which are the Roadster, Roadster X and Roadster Pro, all of which are available to reserve as they haven't officially hit the market.
But the Roadster Pro’s details are either mind-bogglingly good or so crazy that it doesn’t make sense, you choose. Ola Electric reckons the Roadster Pro, a bike that is road and track tested, can go 360 miles on a full charge despite its relatively small 16 kWh battery capacity. They also claim the bike can top a whopping 120mph, which is pretty quick for a battery-powered machine. That’s not that crazy in theory, but what could be troublesome for some, is the starting price. Electric vehicles tend to lean on the more expensive side of the fence, but this bike, wait for it, comes in at less than £3,000.
Some second-hand 125cc bikes on Ebay or Marketplace will cost more than that, and when you look at the presentation of Ola Electric’s bikes, they certainly appear to be of higher value, especially with the numbers suggested. Ola Electric, who also have three electric scooter models, are an Indian company that was founded in 2017. The founder of Ola Electric is Bhavish Aggarwal and his brand is touted as the Indian version of Tesla, if you will.
Built with the intention to reduce fossil fuels and get the Indian masses riding electric vehicles, Ola Electric is a company that has achieved a lot in a very short amount of time, as highlighted by its huge manufacturing facility construction which took place in just eight months. Following that Ola then confirmed plans to build around 1000 scooters per day, yes, you heard me correctly!
Ola Electric bikes feature a double cradle frame with the batteries placed where the fuel tank and engine would sit on a normal motorcycle. The swingarm pivot has the ability to be moved up or down depending on the rider’s needs, and the bike’s also got features such as a hill hold, traction control, cornering ABS, voice assistant, collision warning system and 5G connection. Last but not least, there is also the added benefit of having an automatic heated and cooled seat and handlebars.
While its bikes are kitted out with some impressive features, a slightly worrying fact about the Roadster Pro is the option to play video games on the motorcycle’s LCD (Liquid-Crystal display), which you don’t need me to tell you, sounds quite dangerous and irresponsible.
