How You Can Watch MotoGP for Free This Weekend
This weekend’s MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix, round two of this year's World Championship, will be available to view for free in the UK
Round two of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship will take place in Portugal this weekend, and it will be broadcast on free-to-air TV in the UK.
ITV will broadcast the MotoGP Sprint on ITV3 on Saturday, before all three Sunday races - Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP - go out live on ITV4.
This is not the first time a MotoGP event has been broadcast free-to-air in recent years, with the British Grand Prix appearing on ITV in 2021. The free-to-air broadcast of last year’s French Grand Prix was supposed to be a precursor to the British Grand Prix’s appearance on ITV, too, but the latter’s free-to-air slots were scrapped in the week before the race.
Last year’s Portuguese Grand Prix opened the 2023 season, with Marc Marquez taking pole position, finishing third in the Sprint, and cleaning out both himself and Miguel Oliveira (also to the detriment of Jorge Martin) at turn three in the Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix was won by Francesco Bagnaia, who also won the Sprint as he began his title defence in perfect fashion.
In that respect, the beginning to 2024 has been little different, as Bagnaia took a commanding victory at the Qatar Grand Prix earlier this month to lead the championship to Portugal. Jorge Martin won the Sprint and finished third in the Grand Prix to lie third in the standings overall, while KTM’s Brad Binder went 2-2 across the Qatar weekend to sit second in the riders’ points after the season opener.
