Toprak Razgatlioglu has reduced Jonathan Rea’s advantage at the head of the 2021 WorldSBK Championship standings with victory in the Superpole Race at Most.

After making significant in-roads into his rival’s lead with victory in race one, Razgatlioglu doubled up in Sunday’s 10 lap sprint as Rea once again buckled under the pressure being heaped on by the Yamaha rider.

Indeed, Rea came into the day reeling in the wake of an uncharacteristically error-strewn performance in Race 1 that led to two crashes and an eventual DNF.

Despite this, he was a match for Razgatlioglu around the Czech circuit but after losing the lead to the Turk on the run down to the first turn, struggled to get into a position to make a pass for the lead.

However, with three laps remaining Rea got his braking into turn one wrong and was forced to take to the escape road, allowing Razgatlioglu the breathing distance he needed to reel off his fifth win of the year.

Though Rea rejoined in second place, the loss of momentum allowed Scott Redding - whose victory hopes were dashed by a slow start - to pounce on the penultimate lap, leaving Rea in third position. With one race remaining this weekend, Rea now leads Razgatlioglu in the overall standings by seven points.

Andrea Locatelli followed in a lonely fourth place, ahead of a busy chasing pack led by BMW’s Tom Sykes, the 2013 WorldSBK Champion fending off Garrett Gerloff, Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani, with Alvaro Bautista in ninth as the final point scorer.
