The New BMW R1300 R Arrives with Sportier Appearance, More Power
BMW has taken the covers off its brand-new 2025 R1300 R which receives noticeably more power and a more dynamic styling

BMW has introduced its all-new R1300 R and it arrives with no stone left unturned, and by that, we mean its sportier than ever before as well as having the most powerful boxer engine to date.
As we reported a few days ago, it was to be expected that the new BMW R1300 R would take after the same technical platform as the R1300 GS, while looking a tad sportier to fit the bill of being a naked bike.
But it’s also managed to achieve that line of thinking against its predecessor, the R 1250 R. While sportier than before, the new R1300 R is more powerful than ever before, thanks to its 130cc, two-cylinder boxer engine that produces 143bhp at 7750rpm (two more than the R1300 GS model) and 110Ib ft of torque at 6500rpm.
That’s a sizable 9bhp more than the previous R1250 which delivered 134bhp and 105.4Ib ft of torque. The two-stage Shift Cam intake cam profile is also used.
The price of the new boxer twin starts at £13,200, before rising to £15,500 for an SE version. If you want to get your hands on BMW’s semi-automatic ASA gearbox you will have to dish out £16,255.

The “dynamic roadster” as BMW calls it, features conventional upside-down telescopic forks that were found aboard the R1200 R from 2015 and then R1250 R. The new version includes a diameter of 47mm, while at the rear, the Paralever single-sided swingarm is said to offer a significantly stiffer connection.
As with the Boxer GS, the frame of the Boxer-R is converted from tubular steel to sheet metal mainframe and also comprises a bolt-on rear made of cast aluminium. The 2025 R1300 R also features new 17-inch aluminium cast wheels with hollow-spoke design. That has resulted in a 1.4kg weight reduction. The new bike has a claimed weight of 239kg without its maximum 17 litres of fuel.

A big change is the riding position with BMW claiming it has been brought further forward, as flatter handlebars are coupled with footrests that are set further back as a way of bringing the rider towards the front wheel. The aluminium bars are able to be rotated by 180 degrees which can allow the grips to be a further 10mm away from the rider, thus giving it a sportier stance.
The new R1300 R gets three riding modes as standard, which are ‘Rain’, ‘Road, and ‘Eco’. A further ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Dynamic Pro’ can also be added, with further intervention including cornering ABS, and an MSR function that will prevent rear wheel lock-ups when performing downshifts. Furthermore, the new model can be equipped with the Riding Assistant which comes with Active Cruise Control (ACC) and Front Collision Warning (FCW).

As expected, the new BMW R 1300 R is available as an advanced alternative option to the Shift Assist Pro (optional extra). This gives you the choice between semi-automated shifting of the 6 gears or fully automatic.
“With the new BMW R 1300 R, we’ve taken our dynamic roadster with boxer engine to a whole new level. Focused uncompromisingly on riding dynamics, it delivers a far sportier experience than its predecessor thanks to a completely redesigned engine and chassis, while still retaining core BMW values such as touring capability and comfort.,” said Christof Lischka, Head of Development BMW Motorrad.
