Jonathan Rea will start the final round of the 2019 WorldSBK season from pole position after comfortably dismissing his rivals in qualifying for the WorldSBK Qatar round.

Having topped the timesheets in FP3, Rea was once again in fine form over a single lap to stop the clock at 1m 56.246s, seeing off a Yamaha threat behind him to reel off his seventh Superpole in 13 events.

He gets underway in race one just ahead of his future Kawasaki team-mate Alex Lowes, who signs off from his time at Yamaha from the front row in second place, the British pair joined by the impressive Sandro Cortese, who did his hopes of impressing prospective employers for 2020 some good in third.

Tom Sykes surged up the timesheets to collect fourth for BMW, while Loris Baz and Leon Haslam are well poised in fifth and sixth, though the latter was aggrieved to have been held up by Eugene Laverty on his final lap.

A tough session for Ducati having looked strong in practice, Alvaro Bautista starts down in seventh position, while Chaz Davies – quickest on Friday – was only 12th on the grid.

Michael van der Mark starts eighth, ahead of Markus Reiterberger and Toprak Razgatlioglu, the Turk again struggling to show his hand in qualifying.

Elsewhere, Leon Camier was again top Honda in 13th, while Marco Melandri ended his final motorcycle qualifying session in 17th.
