THIS sweet edit from the AUS-X Open organisers shows former AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion, Ryan Villopoto, getting back in the groove ahead of his comeback ride in November at the Sydney Arena.

Villopoto retired after injuring himself part way through the 2015 MXGP season. Reasons were complicated but the fact Villopoto is making his first serious race since then in Sydney, Australia speaks volumes about how Ryan feels about the limelight and the stresses of racing.

That said, Ryan’s clearly not hung up his boots in the passing months, saying: ‘It’s been a while since I’ve been on a Supercross track but I haven’t just been sitting there twiddling my thumbs.’ How’s the Kawasaki rider going to feel lining up on the gate at AUS-X Open? ‘It’s a way down the road still but I’ll be nervous about that, not lining up in a while.’

His main opposition in Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney will be AMA Supercross star and Aussie hero, Chad Reed. The evergreen Reed has a strong record at the AUS-X Open, one of the few events he takes part in outside the States.
