Very Rare Yamaha MT-01 SP Is Kitted Out But Costs £15k

A Yamaha MT-01 SP is a rare commodity, and this example is one of 50 that was produced for the British market and has amassed 4,794 miles.

In terms of its appearance, it's quite clear that the MT-01 is vastly different to the newer, higher-spec and overall more advanced MT family, but the ‘01’ model on offer for £14,999 from The Bike Specialists has been fitted with some very tasty parts.

This 2010 example, which comprises a 1670cc V-twin engine with five speed transmission, produces 90bhp and 110Ib ft of torque. The upgraded SP version of the MT-01 was launched in 2009, meaning this machine also boasts Ohlins suspension and an Akrapovic exhaust system.

The bike is in tip-top condition and will receive a service, brake fluid change and MOT prior to sale. The bike comes completely standard from the factory but the dual Akrapovic Exhaust pipes have been fitted.

What the new owner of this very cool machine will be without is the bike’s book pack and service book which have been mislaid according to The Bike Specialists due to a sudden family bereavement. The sale does though include the two keys.

Along with its Ohlins suspension and Akrapovic exhaust system, the bike also gets a specific colour scheme of red and white paint with a black and red seat.

The MT-01 is no longer produced by Yamaha and was first of the MT family to reach the end of its production - all other MT models are still being produced in selected markets.

For the UK, the MT-125, MT-03, MT-07, MT-09 and MT-10 remain core bikes in the Japanese brand’s line-up, while the MT-15 is restricted to Asian markets including Thailand, Malaysia and India.
