Last week, Harley-Davidson was linked to a hack by cyber criminals, that was alleged to have taken place over the Christmas period. One of the outlets reporting the news was RedHotCyber (RHC), which alleged that some 66,000 customer records may have been compromised.

It also suggested that the 888 group was behind the attack, going on to claim that the threat actors had posted a sample of stolen data within an online forum. RHC went on to claim that the contents of the sample showed customer data that could only have been gathered from the company’s own IT infrastructure or from a third-party vendor.

After being contacted by a spokesperson for Harley-Davidson UK over the weekend, it seems as though the claims may not have been totally correct, and the official word from them is that an investigation has been carried out and that no impact to Harley-Davidson has been found.

The short statement from Harley-Davidson reads:

"We have thoroughly investigated and have not found that the Motor Company has been impacted. While we are continuing to investigate, we do not expect that conclusion to change in any way."

Should the information relating to this report change, this article will be updated.
