Wait Until You See This Supercharged Yamaha R3
This TTS Performance-supercharged Yamaha R3 is the fastest in the world
This Yamaha R3 has been boosted by a supercharger from Silverstone-based TTS Performance and has gone on to set six new records at the Bonneville Speedway in the US.
Where do we even start with this bonkers R3 which on the dyno produces a peak power output of 78bhp at 14000rpm, which is just a staggering number even with a supercharger as the standard road version of the R3 churns out 41.4bhp?
Although the engine is not completely changed and retains its 310cc displacement, the build work put in by TTS Performance includes custom JE forged low compression pistons, Carrillo Rods, a cryo-treated stock crankshaft, while it also features a Norton Motorsports ported superbike headcam.
A custom one-off TTS Performance Rotrex C15-16 Centrifugal Supercharger kit was also mounted to this Yamaha R3 and was tuned through an aRacer RC Super-X ECU system. Before attempting the new records, the bike was first put on the Dyno and that’s where the frightening potential of this bike was already becoming apparent.
The six records set took place on salt flats in Utah, with each of them involving a flying start and a timed one-mile run. Four of the six records were new heights when it comes to the AMA National records, with a top speed of 142.44mph set in the fourth of those.
A further two records were set and these are new FIM world records although the top speed of 142.44mph was not beaten in either of them.
Anyway, I’ve kept you waiting long enough, below is the video of its dyno run and more.
This is not the first crazy adventure TTS Performance has been on, in fact, it’s one of many. The company recently made a 250cc inline-four Honda MC22 CBR250RR go berserk when it added a turbocharger to it which made the bike redline at a mammoth 19000rpm.
They have also stuck a supercharger in a Harley-Davidson before and a Suzuki Hayabusa, although the latter has become ill-fated since it died whilst competing at the Santa Pod raceway. This was the same bike that saw Eddie Hall, the previous World’s Strongest Man, take on former WorldSBK champion Sylvain Guintoli.
