Will the ‘Kite Bike’ Fly Again?

Motocross racer Kale Makeham has been pouring his time into creating a Moto-Glider he’s dubbed the Kite Bike - and we want one!

‘The devil makes work for idle hands’ so the saying goes. And having read that, you could only conclude that Kale Makeham must be an angel, as he’s been extremely busy over the last few months cross-breeding a dirt bike and hang glider.

Why, you may ask. Well, simply put, why not? I’m actually surprised this isn’t done more often, especially given how much downtime we all had over the last few years! The other reason as to why is that Kale has a quest (and a YouTube channel - natch!) and his quest is to jump the Murray River in South Australia, which happens to be the longest river on the Australian continent, stretching 1,558 miles, and forming the Murray Darling basin which covers around one-seventh the area of Australia - thankyou Wikipedia…

Okay, so we won’t spoil the will/won’t he part of this, as the episodes he’s already posted are very entertaining and well worth 20 minutes of your day. What we will spoil though is the fact that he may have had his wings clipped for any further high-flying antics, as the CASA, the Aussie relation of the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority, has been in touch, and they aren’t happy. According to CASA, Kale’s ‘flights’ (which are more like very long hops resulting in a crash into the river) are against the rules, and they issue him with a desist order. Bloody party poopers.

Anyway, Kale seems to have opened it up to the public to decide if he should stop, or if he should crack on with the job in hand, jump the Murray River and possibly risk some time in jail.

We don’t condone breaking the law, but to have your say, head to this YouTube channel and let him know in the comments where you stand.
