10 new bikes to look forward to in 2025
Here's a rundown of the motorcycles we’ve seen and can’t wait to throw a leg over in 2025
We’re still busy processing the amazing year for motorcycles that was 2025, featuring incredible metal of all shapes and sizes, from peppy little single-cylinder heroes, like the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, to big-bore adventure bikes.
We’ve rounded up our favourites in Visordown’s Bike of the Year round-up, but here, we’re looking to the future. The following 10 bikes are a mix of things we’ve seen but are yet to ride, and machines we’re expecting to be revealed and launched in 2025, giving a flavour of the enticing 12 months we have ahead of us in the motorised two-wheeled world.
Ducati Panigale V2
It may be a close sibling of the new Streetfighter V2, and may have less power and grunt than the outgoing model, but the new Panigale V2, with its all-new engine, should be a cracking bike to ride.
With less power, it's claimed to be more at home on the road than the previous generation's bike, and as we've seen from the marketing pictures and videos, it looks like it can still shake a tail feather on track. In fact, according to Ducati's PR team, the new machine was just a whisker off the pace of the older more powerful bike when tested on track.
Triumph 400 Cafe Racer
Spy shots first seen in late 2023 showed an adorable little cafe racer sporting a Speed Triple 1200 RR-style bikini fairing seemingly on top of the engine and frame of the new single-cylinder Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 models.
So is it a ‘Speed 400 RR’? Perhaps, but another naming possibility touted by media in India - where the bike is likely to be built by Bajaj alongside the other two 400s - suggest it could be labelled as a Thruxton. Either way, it looks like it’ll be a blast to ride, putting that new 40bhp, 28lb ft single into a retro sports package.
Buell Super Cruiser
Buell's Super Cruiser is built around a thumping 1190cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine, which makes a whopping 175bhp, and 101Ib ft of torque. The engine lives in a steel tube frame, while the chassis features 17-inch wheels front and rear and that trademark perimeter braking system.
The bike was designed in collaboration with custom motorcycle designer, Roland Sands. All the way back in early 2023 Buell CEO Bill Melvin admitted building a Cruiser was a major aim for the American brand, and thanks to the help of Sands’s impressive custom-building skills, Buell has made its dream come true. Whether we'll get to ride it remains to be seen, as currently, we've not heard of any desire to bring the bike to the UK or even Europe.
You can bet your bottom dollar that if the chance should arise, Toad will be first in line with his passport in hand!
KTM 390 Adventure R
KTM has updated its highly-rated 390 Adventure for 2025, revealing the new bike to us at EICMA last year. The old bike was a decent enough A2 commuter and occasional off-roader, the new edition looks to be a proper mini adventure bike, and we can;t wait to test it.
Already an accomplished all-rounder, the changes made to the next-gen 390 Adventure are vast. They begin with updated styling that ties in with the other bikes in the large-capacity adventure and naked KTM ranges. It shares chassis and suspension components with the 390 Enduro and 390 SM, and given that they are much more focused machines, the little 390 could be one of the most exciting adventure bikes of 2025 already!
BSA B65 Scrambler
BSA's Gold Star 650 was launched some time ago, and it took the revived BSA brand a while to get around to building a scrambler version of the bike. Thankfully they've done it, and the production-ready machine was revealed at Motorcycle Live last November. All we need to do now is wait to ride, and going by the fun we had on the Bear 650 last autumn, the B65 should be another bike that is well worth waiting for!
KTM RC 990
KTM will want a good return on the investment that went into the new 990 engine, so alongside a possible 990 Adventure, 2024 could well feature the debut of the RC 990. That’s right, after many years away, KTM is going down the fully-faired route, albeit with a middleweight offering rather than a superbike like the RC8.
New RC prototypes have been spotted as far back as 2022, so by now, the bike should be reasonably far along in terms of development. In this application, KTM may choose to turn the wick up a touch from the 121bhp offered up by the new engine in its 990 Duke setting.
Aprilia Tuono 457
Based on the RS 457 which hit the market earlier this year, the Aprilia Tuono 457 is here to fill in the gap between its Tuono 125 and 660 models. And while we've already ridden the RS475, and had a blast on it, the naked version should really be the one to go for.
A bit like how the Tuono 660 Factory is actually a better road bike than its faired sibling, the Tuono 457 might turn out to be one of the gems of 2025.
CFMoto 675 SR-R
Looking like a cut-price MV Agusta, the CFMoto 675 SR is another one of those bikes that showing there is still some life in the supersport segment yet!
It'll be joining the ranks of the Suzuki GSX-8R, Yamaha R9, and CBR650R, as well as more focused bikes like the Kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja and Honda CBR600RR. With CFMoto seeming to build bikes to a very attractive budget, the incoming CFMoto might be the one to out sell them all!
Yamaha R9
Given the success of the R7, and the recent reveal of a comprehensively updated MT-09 - something that arrived relatively soon after the original’s launch - 2025 is the year we get to sample an MT-09-powered sports bike.
With Yamaha removing the road-going R1 from the European range, but allowing it to live on as a race-only version, the R9 will sit at the head of the Yamaha sports bike range, but with significantly less power than the iconic sports bike, will road and track day riders be able to look past the spec sheet and take the plunge themselves?
We'll be testing the R9 in the spring at the stunning Jerez circuit, stay tuned for the full review!
