It seems as though everything Ducati touches is turning into gold, and its debut in motocross racing saw a continuation of that, albeit in domestic racing and not on the world stage.

But that’s also because Ducati did not race full-time in MXGP - the highest level of motocross racing globally - which will change in 2025. Instead, 2024 marked the debut of its Desmo450 MX machine in the hands of nine-time world champion Tony Cairoli, which will be the focus of this four-part mini series.

Another title win in MotoGP, more race winning success in WorldSBK and British Superbike - you name it and Ducati either achieved it or was very close to doing so in 2024. But things like winning a third title on the bounce in MotoGP were somewhat expected, however making its motocross debut with immediate success was not.

The first episode of the series, which will be available to watch on the official Ducati YouTube channel, will document Ducati’s foray into the Italian motocross championship. Then, episode two will feature Ducati’s first double win which came in the hands of Alessandro Lupino.

The third part of the documentary will focus on Ducati’s debut in the MXGP class which came as a wildcard with Cairoli, and although there were issues over the course of the weekend that stopped the Italian from achieving the best result possible, a lot of potential was shown by the Desmo450.

Finally, the final episode will feature a look back at Ducati’s title success which came in the Italian MX1 series and was won by Lupino. This is the second Ducati documentary since the end of racing in 2024 after a three-part series focused on Francesco Bagnaia’s 2024 MotoGP campaign and title fight against Jorge Martin.

Ducati’s motocross documentary series begins on 20 December and concludes with episode four on 3 January.
