Famous Biker Cafe in North Wales Shuts Its Doors
After 42 years in business, a famous North Wales biker café has unfortunately closed its doors
A popular destination for bikers across the UK, the well-known Ponderosa Café has had to close its doors for financial reasons.
In business for 42 years, the biker café, located at Horseshoe Pass in Llangollen, closed in November for maintenance with hopes of reopening in 2025. But that will not happen.
Previously named one of the best UK roadside diners, the café and gift shop first shut its doors on 4 November with a guarantee that customers could return in January/February. However, when the end of February came with no updates shared, it became clear that the café was potentially in trouble.
Throughout its time in existence, the café has been family-owned and in a statement, shared on Facebook, the café has promised further updates when possible.
The statement from owners Simon and Sam Clemence, said: “It is with a heavy heart we announce that the Ponderosa shall not be re-opening at this present moment in time. We would like to take this opportunity and thank our loyal customers. There are many other cafes you could have chosen but you chose us and for that we are deeply grateful.
“A big heartfelt thank you goes out to the biking community for their unflinching support through many ups and downs during the years that we have been at the Ponderosa.
We would also like to thank our staff, past and present. We could not have accomplished our success without you and would like to express our deep sense of gratitude to each and every one of you.
“Your hard work, dedication and resilience have not gone unnoticed. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful past 42 years. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for any future updates.”
