Flooding in Spain Leaves WorldSBK Rider Stranded
Severe flooding in Spain has left Tito Rabat stranded on the motorway, just hours after his 2025 season was confirmed
On Tuesday morning Tito Rabat signed a new WorldSBK deal for 2025 with Motoxracing Yamaha where he will compete alongside new team-mate Bahattin Sofuoglu.
But come that same evening, the former MotoGP was restricted to spending a night in his car after being stuck by devastating floods that resulted in many people losing their lives.
Rabat, who took to social media the following morning, was one of many people unable to get home on Tuesday night, with some people stranded and ultimately forced to leave their cars behind.
Rabat was stranded on the A3 which is the road connecting Madrid to Valencia, and the MotoGP finale next month is thought to already be under threat as a result of the flooding.
A statement from IRTA read: "We are all aware of the current situation in Valencia caused by heavy rains and floods. Sadly, there have been more than 50 fatalities in the region and many people are still missing. Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones.
"Fortunately, there have been no injuries among the circuit staff, but there is great damage to the exterior of the facilities, especially in the access to the circuit. We have been informed that the runway appears to be in good condition, although a full assessment is still underway."
