Video: Energica Experia vs Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE | Electric v Petrol!
In our latest video, we put the new all-electric Energica Experia vs the Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE. Will electric touring motorcycles do enough to beat petrol?
There’s a new kid on the touring motorcycles block, and in our new head-to-head video we’re putting the all-electric Energica Experia up against one of the long-standing Goliaths on two-wheels - the Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE.
We know the instinct here may be that electric power will never win this battle, but it’s an inevitable match-up at this point - and the Experia does make a respectable case for itself as a purpose-built tourer.
Fitted with a new 22.5 kWh lithium polymer, the largest capacity battery currently on two-wheels, you can expect the Experia to be good for up to a quoted 260 miles of range - more than the up to 220 miles from a full tank on the Versys. Though, I will add, the 260 miles figure is based on city riding.
But in any case, touring is about far more than how far you can go before filling up. We’ll also consider the power, handling, pillion comfort, style, price & fun factor before coming to a decision.
Have a watch of the video above to see what we think comes out on top.

And if the Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE Grand Tourer has taken your eye, you can have a read of the recently published part 2 of my long-term review. Spolier: I adore Verity the Versys.
It's worth knowing that whichever tourer you'd pick out of these two, you're sure to have a motorcycle that you seriously enjoy riding.
