More than 1,000 women seek to smash two world records
Record bid to raise profile of women in biking
MORE than 1,000 women bikers have signed up to help smash two world records this weekend:- the largest female bike gathering and the largest all female bike parade.
With forecasts promising dry weather, organisers say the 'more the merrier' and invite all women bikers to be part of the record bids this Sunday (August 16) at the Ace Cafe in London.
A videographer will record all attendees arriving from 9am and with the official count ending at 2pm, this will be evidence for the largest all female bike gathering record.
Then at 3pm as many women as possible will be invited to ride out en masse to smash the largest all female bike parade; the current record is held by a group of Australian women (set at 221 including pillions.)
Organisers Sherrie Woolf, a sports bike fan who just clocked a nine minute lap at the Nurburgring, and Nimisha Patel, who loves CBR600s so much she has two of them, are hoping the record attempts will raise the profile of women in the bike industry.
Woolf jokes she is expecting quite a few men to turn up too - no doubt, enticed by the prospect of 1,000 women bikers. Gentlemen might be politely reminded this is not speed dating and only women will count towards the record.
