The one-off, coffee-dispensing Royal Enfield Interceptor sidecar
When Watsonian was contacted by the owner of the Ace Cafe in Switzerland, they provided their Grand Prix sidecar for a unique Royal Enfield project.
Have you ever considered that motorcycling is a bit ‘decaf’? Well, us neither, but that did not stop the owner of the Ace Cafe in Luzern, Switzerland, from bringing coffee to his motorcycling life.
The method for doing so was to take a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, custom built by Auer Power Moto, and then get in contact with the people at Watsonian to see what they could do.
The request from Danny Kunz, the owner of the Swiss-based Ace Cafe, to Watsonian was for “a sidecar suitable for use as a mobile coffee bar,” a Watsonian press release reads.
The British firm duly obliged, providing their retro-looking Grand Prix sidecar, whose steel tubular perimeter frame provided the mounting point for the rack which carries the coffee grinder and espresso machine.
This unique sidecar is therefore ready to serve coffee wherever it pulls up and, in case something different is required, the inventory also includes some non-alcoholic, 0% Guinness.
Watsonian Managing Director, Ben Matthews, said: “As a company we've 111 years experience making sidecars, so we're the go-to guys when it comes to building outfits for TV, film and specialist use. In 2020 we designed a sidecar for a Cornish chef to serve Asian street food from and prior to that we made an outfit for a London beekeeper! We'll also be revealing something with an Italian flavour later this year!”
