Protestors climb QEII Bridge at Dartford Crossing on the M25
Two protestors from the environmental group Just Stop Oil have caused chaos on the M25 this morning climbing the QE11 bridge over the Dartford Crossing!
TRAVEL chaos hit the M25 this morning as two protestors from Just Stop Oil climbed the QEII bridge at the Dartford Crossing to protest against climate change.
The pair have scaled the thick suspender cables that prevent the deck of the bridge from collapsing into the river Thames. It is thought they began the claim at around 3:50 am this morning, reaching their current destination, and subsequently closing the bridge, just in time for rush hour. Police estimates put have the bridge closed for at least 24 hours, as the structure will need to be fully checked once the protesters are removed from the structure.

One of the activists, Morgan Trowland from London, took the time to update the public on the situation while he straddled the thick steel cable.
“As a professional civil engineer, each year as I renew my registration, I commit to acting within our code of ethics, which requires me to safeguard human life and welfare and the environment.” He said.
“Our government has enacted suicidal laws to accelerate oil production: killing human life and destroying our environment. I can’t challenge this madness in my desk job, designing bridges, so I’m taking direct action, occupying the QE2 bridge until the government stops all new oil.”
The bridge closure comes just hours after a spate of similar incidents across the capital, with an Aston Martin dealership in London being vandalised and road closures were also instigated by the group.
With the group's main aim being to prevent carbon emissions from fossil fuel use, it does seem funny that the bridge closure will have the complete opposite effect, as people thread their way through back roads trying to find an alternative route to work.
