Scott Redding marked his return to the top of the WorldSBK Championship podium by making it a moment to cherish after using it as the setting to propose to his girlfriend Jayce Hayden.

The British rider gave his 2021 WorldSBK title hopes a welcome boost with his strongest weekend of the season on the series’ maiden visit to the Most Autodrom, culminating in his first win since Round 2 at Estoril.

Not wanting to miss the opportunity to immortalise the moment, with the cameras on the international feeds still rolling, Redding jumped down from the top of the podium as Jayce was ushered out onto the podium to find her boyfriend on bended knee.

We aren’t experts in lip reading but we’ll go off the body language and assume she did indeed say yes.

Speaking after the race, Scott reveals he wanted to dedicate his win to not only Jayce but also to BSB rider Brad Jones, who suffered a series of injuries at Brands Hatch following an accident on 24 July. As of August 5, doctors were slowly waking him up from an induced coma.

"I had a lot of emotions both in my head and in my heart. I only had one goal and that was to win for Jacey, for Brad (Jones), for myself.

Redding also reflected on comments made after Race 1 when he was denied victory by a last lap pass from Toprak Razgatlioglu, which he branded as ‘unfair’. However, he admits now his words were ‘hot headed’ in the heat of the moment.

“It was a very positive weekend even though I was a little upset yesterday with how the race ended.

“But it's clear that hot reactions can be wrong sometimes. The championship standings? I don't want to think in those terms. I just want to get the most out of every race. Then we'll do the math at the end of the season."

Congratulations to Scott and Jayce!
