Hit-and-Run by McLaren on M2 Leads to Another Motorcycle Rider Death
A motorcycle rider has sadly lost his life following a hit-and-run accident on the M2
Another week, another sad story of a motorcycle rider losing their life after a rider suffered a hit-and-run accident with a McLaren on the M2.
The accident took place over the weekend and as a result a section of the M2 has been closed today, 10 March. Emergency services arrived on the scene between Chatham and Hempstead near Gillingham where the man, in his 30s, was pronounced dead.
The purple McLaren left the scene following the accident but the driver has since been found and arrested by Kent Police and is now being held in custody.
The police force is asking anyone with any information that could be of assistance, including "any footage capturing the manner of driving from either vehicles prior to the collision" to come forward.
Police have also confirmed that both vehicles were travelling on the coastbound carriageway between Junction three and junction four, while the rider who passed away was riding a white Yamaha.
Diversions were put in place from the time of the incident on Sunday until later that day, but they have since been lifted.
A statement from the Kent police force, said: “Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is carrying out enquiries and urge anyone who saw what happened or has relevant dashcam footage to contact them.
“This includes any footage capturing the manner of driving from either vehicles prior to the collision too.”
This news comes just a few days after a motorcycle rider in North Wales, who was aboard a Honda, was also killed in a collision, this time with a Mercedes van.
