King of the Baggers, a championship that features Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles, has become one of the most entertaining championships in the United States in recent years, but a similar series is now coming across to Europe in 2025 thanks to the Bagger Racing European Cup.

In November a post-season MotoGP test in Barcelona surprisingly saw King of the Baggers motorcycles flock the track for a ‘test day’ although it very well looked like a PR stunt if nothing else.

But, rumours of a racing series featuring big heavy cruisers have now been confirmed for this year. The new series is set to be called the Bagger Racing European Cup and will be run by Ruben Xaus, a former racer in World Superbike, MotoGP, and the Bagger Racing League in North America.

In fact, Xaus was the series champion in the Bagger Racing League and although the Bagger Racing Cup will be different to the series in the US, the bikes used will be similar.

A statement from the Bagger Racing League, said: "The Cup will be open to all brands that offer motorcycles that can be equipped with bags on the market, thus allowing manufacturers and customizers to compete on a terrain that has never before been the subject of competition in Europe."

Even better, the series will be open to all the heavy hitters including Harley-Davidson (of course), BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Moto Guzzi, Triumph and Ducati. When the inaugural Bagger Racing Cup gets underway in Europe, each round will consist of two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Like with the very best series, every event will include free practice sessions and qualifying. There’s been no confirmation as of yet as to when or where the new championship will start.

Xaus also spoke about the new category, saying: “I found fertile ground for this project in FIM Europe, which immediately embraced it with enthusiasm. I am convinced that this championship can be an added value for the events in which it will be hosted, raising the level of entertainment and interest of the same.

“We are in the process of defining the calendar, which will be made official within a few days, but will include the main European countries. The regulation will also be simple and open to all. We want the riders registered for the championship to have fun and have fun."
