Best look yet at Royal Enfield’s 750
New parallel-twin seen in India
WE told you way back in 2015 that Royal Enfield was making a 750 twin, and two years later here it is.
These pictures, from our friends at the Indian site Rushlane.com, purport to be spy shots of the machine and they look pretty plausible to us. The name ‘Royal Enfield’ on an engine cover is a clue, as are the parallel-twin cylinders – the firm’s current range consists of single-cylinder machines of up to 500cc.
We can also see that it uses a modified version of the Continental GT frame, which was developed by Harris, the British chassis builder Royal Enfield bought in 2015.
Royal Enfield Chief Executive Siddhartha Lal has openly discussed plans for a 750, saying in an interview with Indian site Car and Bike: “It will be absolutely highway worthy and therefore it will bring us out of a niche segment in a lot of faster international markets.”
It’s not the first time we’ve seen it – it was caught on video in March – but these are the best shots fo far.
It looks set to be the second new model from the Royal Enfield in two years, following the 410cc Himalayan, which the Indian firm has confirmed will be sold in the Europe.
It’s part of a Royal Enfield development drive first revealed by Visordown back in February 2015, which a source told us at the time would include at least three new models.
