Is This Ducati Panigale V4 The World’s Fastest Snow Bike?
Matt Spears continues his journey of building a Ducati Panigale V4 designed to rip through snow trails
Motorcycles riding through snow are not as rare a sight as you may think, in fact, this rebuilt Ducati Panigale V4 is making a habit of tearing through snowy land, but even for YouTuber Matt Spears, this latest instalment is pretty bonkers.
In part one Spears got himself his dream bike, a Ducati Panigale V4, but there was a slight problem as the motorcycle was completely wrecked and would not start, so safe to say it needed a lot of TLC.
After rebuilding the Panigale V4, Spears took it for a ride through some mountain trails in the hope of reaching the top, but with the bike still using a Pirelli road tyre in the rear, the American had very little luck getting past the icy roads.
Further changes were made before going on a trip to some sand dunes, and words I never thought I’d say, the Panigale V4 came into its own as a paddle tyre was put in the rear of the bike, along with the off-road front tyre which was one of the first changes made during the build.
But now, with the help from Snowmobile experts CMX, Spears has transformed this bike even further. Nearly unrecognizable from when he first got it, this Ducati is now a Panigale V4 by name only as a full-on snowbike kit has been fitted at the front and rear, while the bike still features an SC Project exhaust system that’s been switched to an under-the-seat set-up.
Spears then heads out to the mountains for a test ride of his new Panigale V4 but takes a tumble pretty early on, although the bike was undamaged. Calling it the best build he’s ever done on the YouTube channel, Spears continues to rip the Panigale V4 through the snow before taking on a few big hill challenges to end the video, which can be seen below.
As he powers up the hill, Spears gets close to the top before getting stuck, before many more slow-speed crashes take place. The persistence from Spears and his friends has to be admired, although it’s probably worth saying that the Panigale V4 is not the most adept snow bike after having watched Spears try his luck.
