Baby GS for ‘adventures of everyday riding’

BMW G 310 GS debuts

LOOKING every bit the adventure bike only smaller, this is BMW’s new G 310 GS, which has just been revealed at Eicma.

The new baby GS uses the same 313cc reverse-single-cylinder engine as the G 310 R, with intake at the front and exhaust at the back, to make 34hp and 20lbft while complying with latest Euro4 emission limits.

Weight fully fuelled is 169.5kg.

It’s got a tubular steel frame, aluminium swing-arm, upside-down fork and a 19-inch front wheel.

It takes clear styling cues from the bigger machines in the GS range, with a beaky high mudguard.

It’ got a 300mm single front brake disc with a two-piston caliper, and two-channel ABS as standard.

BMW says its ‘nimble and agile in city traffic’ and ‘supremely robust’ over ‘light terrain’, making it the ‘perfect companion for the adventures of everyday riding’.

The firm said: ‘The new G 310 GS provides a relaxed seating position that enables carefree motorcycling pleasure both on the road and during excursions along forest paths and gravel tracks.’

It comes in black, red or white colour schemes.

The new G 310 GS was unveiled this morning at the Eicma motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, with price to be confirmed.
