HOT on the heels of the CFMOTO 700CL-X Heritage we rode last year, its sporty and stylish sibling the 700CL-X Sport has landed in UK dealerships.

First spotted at the Motorcycle Live Show at the NEC last year, the CL-X Sport was grabbing admiring attention on the CFMOTO stand thanks to its concept bike styling and sporty, café racer stance. In fact, the look of the thing forced me to check in with the CFMOTO staff, to see whether this was a concept or a genuine production machine.

True to their word, the Sport has landed and looks just as good as it did at the NEC. It shares the basic underpinnings of the Heritage that was announced in 2021, although a raft of styling tweaks and some eye-catching graphics really set the two models apart. The new Sport also wears swept-back clip-on bars, complete, neat-looking bar-end mirrors, and a tidy-looking fly-screen, for a modern take on the café racer theme.

The in the Sport is a liquid-cooled, 693cc, twin, with DOHC an 83mm bore and 64mm stroke. The engine produces its maximum 75HP output at 8,500rpm and maximum 68Nm torque at 6,500rpm. The optimised intake system improves airflow efficiency for quick-revving power and precise throttle response, making it easy to accelerate and overtake. The engine has lightweight pistons and DLC coating to minimise friction. The X-shape engraved on the engine cover also enhances the aesthetics.
