2023 Harley-Davidson Breakout

A nameplate makes a welcome return to the H-D range in 2023, as, after being discontinued in 2020, the Breakout returns with some updates and mechanical changes. when last sold in the UK, the Breakout was a bike of choice for those looking for a H-D cruiser that comes ready-equipped with aggressive, factory custom styling. That theme hasn’t changed for this year and if anything, H-D has ramped up the muscular stance of the bike with revised styling and more.

The bike also features more power, torque and technology than the previous version, while still maintaining that distinctive ‘Softail’ look that became synonymous with the model.

Confirming Visordown’s report on the model from earlier this month, Harley has introduced a new variant of the highly-entertaining Nightster for 2023, as the Nightster Special bursts into the middleweight class.

The new model introduces some upgrades over the stock Nightster we reviewed last year, thanks to ergonomic changes, new tech, and attractive cast wheels. One significant change for the model, and one that will likely appeal to the younger riding audience, is the introduction of a TFT dash that replaces the analogue/LCD item found on the stock bike.

The Harley Freewheeler has also gained updates for 2023, as the bike heads down a more aggressive, blacked-out road from now on. To sum the new bike up, where there once was chrome, there now is black, as the front end, headlamp nacelle, tank console, hand and foot controls, powertrain and exhaust all have black finishes in place of previous bright ones.

The change to the finish of the components completely transforms the funky three-wheeler, taking it from a cutesy, old-school cruiser, and turning it into a much more modern and aggressive-looking machine.

The new Freewheeler also sits on low-profile tires that are wrapped around 18-inch rims – replacing the 15-inch items of the outgoing model. The result is a much more dramatic stance to the bike, with the rear wheels of the machine no longer looking like a parts-bin bolt-on, and much more like an informed design decision.

The new Freewheeler will be freewheeling its way into dealerships in 2023 with an SRP starting at £31,495 for Vivid Black, £31,995 for the base colour, and £32,345 for the two-tone model.

. For 2023, the Freewheeler will be the only trike offered to European customers, as the updated model replaces the Tri Glide Ultra.

120th Anniversary Models

Obviously, H-D wasn’t going to let the occasion of its 120th birthday slip by unnoticed, and to mark the occasion, it has wheeled out a series of limited-edition bikes that it claims feature the ‘most intricate paint schemes ever offered by Harley-Davidson’.

Each bike features a distinctive glossy red paint, with panels of ‘Heirloom Red’ that are applied over a base coat of ‘Anniversary Black’, with each then outlined with a bright red pinstripe and a hand-applied gold paint scallop. Each of the new 120th Anniversary models also features special edition badging which is an Art Deco rendition of the eagle and shield logo. The red paint colour of the new bikes is highlighted with a bright-red pinstripe and filled with a darker Midnight Crimson fade. The bikes also feature Alcantara seats, gold-tone powertrain inserts, bright red rocker boxes, pushrod tube collars, red side panels and gold embroidered Harley-Davidson logo and red fade powertrain inserts.
