Since its launch in 2013, the Grom has garnered a cult following in the UK, USA, Thailand, and Japan. With such widespread success, Honda is giving the bike a visual and technological makeover, hoping to improve the image of the bike and bring in new riders to the brand.

The biggest news for the model is a new more powerful engine and the addition of fifth gear. Peak power is up from 9.6bhp and arrives at 7,250rpm while peak torque has dropped slightly to 7.7lb-ft. The extra cog residing in the gearbox helps the new Grom achieve a top speed of 58mph - up from 57mph!

Hairy stuff indeed!

The most noticeable change from the previous model is the update to the machine's exterior styling. For 2021, the Grom includes new bodywork that is easily removed and customised if the owner wishes - each panel is held on with just six bolts. The Honda also features a revised seat unit and subframe for the new model.

The chassis of the Grom for 2021 remains pretty much the same as before with 31mm USD forks pairing with a two-piston caliper and 220mm disc at the front, and a single-piston caliper and 190mm disc at the rear. The Grom is still rolling on 12” rims and still offers a super-low seat height of 761mm and a wet weight of 103kg.
