MotoGP inspired Aprilia Tuono spotted testing
An Aprilia Tuono with MotoGP-style wings has been spotted testing at the hands of Lorenzo Salvadori
THE hottest naked motorcycle to hit the streets in 2021 could be a new Aprilia Tuono V4 with MotoGP-style aerodynamic wings!
Aprilia Tuono V4 video review
The bike has been spotted undergoing some extremely thorough testing at the hands of Aprilia development rider Lorenzo Salvadori around the Imola circuit, the same track used by the World Superbike championship. The images you see have been shared by the team at GPOne, who are reporting that Salvadori managed a lap time of 1m50sec around the tortuous track. Stunningly that is just 3.6secs slower than the fastest lap set by Chaz Davies in the 2017 round of the event!
One of the big steps forward with the machine could be the new RS-GP 20 inspired front fairing, that features aggressively designed winglets protruding in front of the bike’s nose. The entire front end of the bike is very reminiscent of the latest Aprilia MotoGP machine, obviously giving the 200+bhp motorcycle a huge advantage when accelerating hard out of corners.
The bike makes liberal use of carbon fibre and top spec chassis parts, with some onlookers at the track likening it to a naked RSV4-X, rather than just another spec-level of Tuono. If the bike was an incoming model to the range, it looks set to take the fight firmly to Ducati, with the Streetfighter V4 seeming to take the crown of hyper naked of the year. But the Aprilia and Ducati are not alone in the class, Kawasaki has the awesome Z H2 and MV Agusta the Brutale 1000 RR, both of which are knocking on the door and asking to come in.
Whether the new be-winged Aprilia is definitely incoming, there is no official word yet from the factory, you can’t deny, the naked motorcycle class is quickly becoming the most competitive sector in global motorcycling.
