New British 'GP-inspired' 750 triple revealed
Spirit Motorcycles GP-Sport and GP-Street debut
TWO new mystery British sports bikes are due to debut tonight - and they sound good.
Called the GP-Sport and GP-Street, from Spirit Motorcycles, they're 750cc triples with a GP-inspired 'fully-adjustable' chassis, said to be a first from a British manufacturer.
Little else is confirmed about them at this stage except that they have carbon-fibre bodywork and some clever-sounding electronics.
Here's what the firm said in a brief message: 'These exciting new road & track bikes feature a first from a British manufacturer - a Grand Prix-inspired fully adjustable chassis, from headstock to swingarm. Coupled to a tuned 750cc 3-cylinder engine, lightweight carbon fibre monocoque bodywork, top quality equipment & running gear and cutting edge, F1-style electronics, these bikes will redefine the phrase British Performance Motorcycle.'
The message came in an invitation to the unveiling of the bikes at trendy motorcycle café The Bike Shed in Shoreditch, London, after 6pm tonight.
We'll update this story with pictures and more details as soon as we have them. For now, we thought we'd give this teaser of our own.
Update: there are to be four versions in total, the GP-Sport and GP-Street and higher spec GP-Sport R and GP-Street R, featuring a 'tuned and blueprinted' 749cc in-line triple.
The R versions will make a claimed 180bhp while the two base models make 156bhp.
Claimed wet weight is 145kg for the R versions and 150kg for the base verions.
The chassis is brazed chrome-moly steel with aluminium inserts and a fully adjustable headstock.
Suspension is provided by K-Tech KTR forks and a K-Tech DDS four-way adjustable shock.
The GP-Sport and GP-Street will start from £44,999, the GP-Sport R £64,999 and the GP-Street R £69,999.
The faired GP-Sport and naked G-Street have been unveiled at The Bike Shed while the R versions are on the way in limited numbers.
The bikes are a collaboration between custom builders Spirit of the Seventies and Tony Scott of tuning firm T3 Racing,
