NORTON is giving fans of the historic brand the chance to try out its iconic Commando 961 this summer, as the Nortonrider Roadshow hits the road.

The show begins in mid-August and starts at the now TVS-owned HQ located in Solihull, and from there the bikes will travel the length and breadth of the country, giving many riders the chance to sample the updated Commando for the first time.

The whistlestop tour begins with two dates at the Norton HQ on the 15th and 16th of August, before moving on to P&H Motorcycles in Crawley on Saturday the 19th. From there the bikes will head west, to Williams Automobiles of Bristol on the 23rd, before heading to the East Midlands for a visit to Judd Racing in Nottingham on the 26th. The final date on the tour is at Thor Motorcycles in Bodmin, rounding out the event on Thursday the 31st of August.

While the Norton Commando 961 is about as authentic as a retro bike gets, it’s a thoroughly modern machine beneath the skin. It’s also very much updated and in some cases re-engineered compared to the 961 that was produced by Norton under its previous stewardship. Around 36 per cent of the 350-or-so parts have been either updated, revised, or completely changed compared to the Garner-era bikes, and the engines alone are said to have had £100m poured into them to get them running sweetly. If you want to find out how sweetly that is, follow this link and get yourself booked on for the Nortonrider Roadshow.
