New Royal Enfield FT450 is an Off-Road Guerrilla 450
Royal Enfield’s new FT450 flattracker is an off-road version of the Guerrilla 450 and has launched in India
Royal Enfield’s FT450 is a flattracking spin-off of the new road-focused Guerrilla 450 model that is set to arrive in the UK in 2025 for Slide School Experience Days.
The program is an official Royal Enfield initiative that aims to give riders a day of specialist training on a flat track circuit.
The experience is run alongside Dirt Craft UK and riding instruction is provided by multiple-time national champion and Royal Enfield factory rider, Gary Birtwistle.
Previously when running the program, the school has used a version of Royal Enfield’s Scram 411 model (also known as the FT450) which produces a modest 24bhp. But the new flattracking bike from the Indian firm is a more powerful beast as it claims to make 39bhp thanks to its 452cc ‘Sherpa’ single-cylinder engine which is also used in the brand’s Himalayan 450. Alongside its increased power, the bike is lighter thanks to some reductions.
Based on the Guerrilla 450 we tested a few months ago, all non-essential parts have been stripped from the bike which include its stock bodywork, front braking system, lights, and coloured TFT dashboard display. The ABS system has also been removed.
There’s no longer a front mudguard and the bodywork has been reduced to just a front number board. The tail section attaches to the rear of the bike’s 11-litre fuel tank. The colourway mainly consists of white but is a graphics kit that includes red and black that’s glazed across the bike.
Replacing the Guerrilla’s road-focused 17-inch rims are bigger 18-inch spoked designs with custom hubs and Reise Moto TourR flattrack tyres. A full system exhaust will also drop the bike’s weight compared to the stock system on the road bike.
