Check out this new, £4,000 release from Ducati, their new... watch
Ducati has announced a new partnership with the watchmakers, Bulgari, which will result in a new watch of the Bologna brand’s name.
Ducati and Italian watchmakers Bulgari have announced a partnership whereby the latter will make watches by the name of the former.
The new watch will be called the Bulgari Aluminium Ducati Special Edition, which is “an elegant sports watch produced in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces that celebrates the union between the jewellery Maison and the iconic Italian motorcycle manufacturer,” according to a Ducati press release.
Ducati says the new chronograph “redefines” what a luxury sports watch is and can be. This is, Ducati says, down to the red colour of the dial, three “sporty” counters which are “inspired by the Ducati rev counter graphics,” and the “unconventional materials,” from which it is made.
Bulgari’s new Ducati watch features a 40mm aluminium case, and titanium in the crown and pushers. It is also waterproof to 100 metres, and “the mechanical automatic BVL 130 movement, beating inside at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, ensures tenth-of-a-second accuracy,” Ducati says.
The uniquity of each watch is qualified by the production number which is engraved into the back of the case along with the Ducati logo.
Now we come to the pricing, and fortunately it is at least cheaper than all of Ducati’s current motorcycle roster. In fact, its current least-expensive bike, the Scrambler Icon Dark, is about £4,000 more expensive than the Bulgari Aluminium Ducati Special Edition.
It is also cheaper than all of Ducati’s e-bikes, but they are not exactly inexpensive either. The least-expensive Ducati e-bike is the MIG-S at £5,390, but if you decide to buy the watch instead, you can save around £1,000.
So, yes, for the titanium and aluminium and sporty counters and 100-metre waterproofing, you will need €5,000, or around £4,200. And you can fork it out on Bulgari’s website, here.
